Day 25. Adding Dried Rosemary to your Barbecuing
Thanks for joining me in my “30 Days of Summer Entertaining” series. (Scroll down to the bottom for previous posts in this series) :)
It’s fun to play with different grilling options, and one thing we’ve started doing is using dried rosemary, mixing it into our briquettes.
We recently pruned back our large rosemary bush, and threw the branches in a pile over by the barbecue.
One thing we have done is dip the dried rosemary sprigs in hot water in order to bring the oils to the surface and also make for a little more smokiness than we would get otherwise.
Tastier and better flavor, plus it really smells good while you’re at the grill!
Do you have any secret grilling tips?

What a great idea … I’m definitely going to try that. My rosemary bush has been battling the Texas heat and needs some pruning … what a great way to use those dried pieces! Thanks for sharing.
We like to use apple wood during grilling. We cut the wood in puck size pieces, soak a puck for a bit, then place in the charcoal. Adds a delicious flavor to everything from hot dogs to salmon.
What a great idea. We don’t have briquets just gas, but that sounds yummy!!
Hmmm…does it flavor what you are cooking on the grill? or just smell good? I will have to try it, but without my husband knowing. Its so hard to get him to try something new.
