Day 1. Autumn. Gracious Living.
Autumn.
It brings a new way of living to many of us.
It’s a season of work, preparation, beauty and change. To some it even brings a sense of loneliness (hand in the air! as I send my 2 sons off to college).
Today I’m starting a series in which I’ll be sharing for the next 30 days, my journey into Autumn.
Will it be filled with gracious living? I pray so.
Will it be busy like everyone else’s September? I know so.
Will there be room for gracious ideas for reaching out to others, the sharing of exuberant experiences in my own home, and connecting with others? I hope so.
Autumn is a time to hunker down, stick with a schedule, feel the freshness of the season ahead by canning and preparing foods from the harvest, and a time to re-establish contact with friends and family after a busy summer.
It’s time to take inspiration serious, in how we treat our bodies, and what we read and listen to, because every day should be a celebration of life.
As we transition gracefully in to what’s ahead, saying goodbye to summer and reigniting the traditions of Autumn, there’s room to grow and change.
Take a simple gift to a friend.
Offer the gift of time to someone in need.
Have a special person over for a bowl of soup.
Invite a family over for a meal that you haven’t made in years.
These are just a few ideas.
I’m looking forward to sharing with you as we journey in to Autumn, with grace and ease.
Since today is September 1st, what inspires you about the month ahead??

Hi Sandy!
I’m looking forward to some fresh new starts. In my personal life spiritually, creatively, and in serving. And I’m praying for some sort of opportunity where I can add to my income. Tall orders I know. I’m also looking forward to entertaining….new friends…some I haven’t even met yet.
Autumn is my favorite season! I love the cool crisp mornings and the breezy days with leaves blowing around. You are such an inspiration to me, Sandy. I am so thankful for your blog!

There isn’t anything I don’t love about autumn. We were married on the first day of autumn the year we were married. I love the color, the sky, the air, the food!, the temps. Mama Nature has a special glow in autumn. Yep. Love it. :-)

I love the spirit of this series Sandy! I look forward to the fresh start of fall every year.
I am looking forward to cooler days after such a hot summer. I am also looking forward to squeezing in an autumn camping trip. Getting bake to baking with cooler temps. will be appreciated by the whole family.
Sandy, I love your thinking today and always. Looking forward to the series.
By the way, we just moved to a new house in a new town about 3 months ago. Believe it or not we have not really met many neighbors…they haven’t really reached out like we always have to new people. So that leaves me with no choice but to knock on their doors…with banana bread or something yummy of course. :)
Autumn is my very favorite time of year – cool breezes, carmel apples, cornstalks, pumpkins – I love it all! And as for food – apple crisp, hot soup;s with salad and bread,…wonderful!
I find that the structure of fall makes it easier to plan ahead. We love to have people for dinner and pamper them for an evening. Everyone is busy, but we hope when they are here they can relax. I’m looking forward to your series!
Today, tho sick and 3 sick boys, I decided to clean up our patio. I had a chia tea latte from Starbucks yesterday and just felt the spirit off autumn and fall. Looking forward to this season :)
The other night I was sitting in our bedroom on the bed doing some reading and felt the cool evening breeze and I thought “fall is around the corner” I LOVE the cool evening autumn breezes. I’m looking forward to soups with hearty bread, candles, fall colors! I’ve already been thinking of crockpot meals to make for after soccer games and soccer practices. Getting geared up and ready to go…in to busyness, but yet like you said in to more of a set routine. Looking forward to your series
