Black and White Cherry Brownies Recipe
If you are a brownie lover and a cherry lover, this Black and White Cherry Brownies recipe is gooey, and rich, with sweet giant cherries mixed together.
Your guests may beat down your door the following day to get access to the leftovers (if you have any!) of this amazing recipe I’m sharing today!
This happens to be one of the busiest weeks we’ve had in a while, when it comes to inviting people over for meals. Between hosting an overnight guest, friends stopping by, soccer kids over to watch the World Cup, our kids’ friends stopping by for a meal, it’s as though we’re living out and truly practicing hospitality with intensity—not just showing hospitality, but seeking it out, making it happen, pursuing it … feasting on life.
Feasting on life.
I say “feasting on life” because to me, the whole process of preparing for guests–planning the meals, cleaning the house, thinking about how we can make things special–has gotten me thinking about the nature of hospitality. I think that how we pursue hospitality depends a lot on our perception of it: Whether we consider hosting to be a hardship (a pain, too much effort and work), or a joy.
A joy, where we chalk it up as a privilege to have people into our homes, to share and invest in their lives, to show we care, to share food and drinks – to feast on life!
What “style” do you fall in to?
There are 3 styles of entertaining, and I’m wondering today which one you fall into:
Me-centered. Sometimes this kind of entertaining makes everything look “perfect” and new. Being caught up with all the details in making things look good and perfect, and making sure that your guests think you are the BEST hostess in the world.
Just-because. Hosting because your spouse or boss expects it, but not really having any enthusiasm for the event or the guests. Some people hate this kind of hospitality (just being real here).
Guest-centered. Creating a warm environment for our guests with thoughtful, subtle touches, and a person-centered attitude, rather than a setting-centered attitude. A beautiful, gentle, easy-flowing way of practicing hospitality, because the food and environment don’t matter as much as the people.
An attitude and an opportunity.
I like to think of hospitality more as an attitude that we have toward one another. It calls us to help a guest feel at ease, implying an attitude of service toward our guests.
I like to think of hospitality as an opportunity to invite others in. To experience community, with cheerful, willing hearts, with not a lot of overblown production and afterthought (or worries).
If we’re keen on serving our guests and putting their needs first, we really step out of the limelight, into the shadows, and become vessels of something very unique and wonderful.
Cherry brownies
And sweet … like these brownies.
I love how they are “black” and “white” (chocolate and white chocolate) mixed together! You can serve them with ice cream or whipped cream, and a couple fresh cherries on top!
What is something that you do to keep your guests at the center of your hospitality?

These brownies look so amazing! I will be sure to try and bake some soon.
I always try to make my guests feel at ease and try to create a warm and friendly environment, where everyone can relax. I’d rather not have everything too fussy and complicated, as I want to spend a much time with my guests as possible.
This brownie treat looks so amazing, I can imagine the neighbors are busting down the door to get at these! :) We’ve got some house guests over the next few weeks and your posts always are thought provoking to make sure I’m doing my job as a hostess, thanks!
