Gather these ingredients
- Chocolate cake mix
- Instant chocolate pudding
- Whole milk
- Unsalted butter – grated (cold butter with cheese grater)
- Chocolate chips – semi sweet
- Chocolate chips – milk chocolate
How to make Chocolate Dump Cake
- Grease a 9 x 13 inch baking pan.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Empty the cake mix and dry pudding mix into the prepared baking pan.
- Pour the milk evenly over the cake and pudding mix and use a fork to combine together (does not have to be perfect).
- Sprinkle the two types of chocolate chips over the cake batter. Then, use a cheese grater and a cold stick of butter and grate the butter evenly over the top of the cake mix (must be COLD butter – room temperature will not work).
- Bake for 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and serve.

Tips & substitutions
- Best to use a cheese grater and cold butter, but you could also just add small chunks of butter on top of the mix before baking it.
- You can also sprinkle nuts, mini marshmallows, or sprinkles on top of the cake.
- Can be served warm with ice cream, gelato or fresh whipped cream.

Ingredients
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 small box Instant Chocolate Pudding
- 1 ½ cups whole milk
- ½ cup unsalted butter, grated (use a cheese grater)
- ¾ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ¾ cup milk chocolate chips
Instructions
- Prepare and lightly grease a 9 x 13 baking pan.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Dump cake mix into the prepared baking dish.
- Dump the dry pudding mix on top of the cake mix.
- Evenly pour the milk over everything and mix with a fork to combine (doesn’t have to be perfect).
- Sprinkle the 2 kinds of chocolate chips evenly over the cake batter.
- Next, sprinkle the grated butter evenly on top of the chocolate chips. (TIP: use a cheese grater to grate COLD butter, not room temp butter).
- Bake for 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and enjoy every bite.
