Empty Nester Charcuterie Board
Cooking for 2-4? Here’s an Empty Nester Charcuterie Board, made on “the big board” with all your favorite cheese board snacks! It makes a nice appetizer or a dinner, on the smaller size, and is super easy to put together for any holiday, too. Cheers!
I love an easy charcuterie board, and the fact that you don’t always have to make it epic. If you’re cooking for 2-4, then how about an empty nester charcuterie board? This cheese board is fun to make and serve for another “empty nester” couple, neighbors, or friends.
Empty Nester Charcuterie Board
I think more people would entertain more as empty nesters if they knew they could make a quick, simple charcuterie board for dinner! Right? Set it out with your favorite drinks and you have a small party!
Oh, and what is an empty nester? An empty nester is a parent whose children have grown and moved away from home.
This small cheese board is easy to make, and sometimes we just use the “clean out the fridge” method to see what we can place on the board. You can use any kind of board, but we recommend one with a raised edge so the food stays in place.
The idea behind this board is to just make a little invite. This year might be starting off rough, or not wanting to really mingle, but a snack dinner, or easy charcuterie board, is a great place to start. Want to watch the fast-speed video of me making this board?
Years ago, before we started our own line of “big boards,” I made this Cozy Minimalist Charcuterie Board is a small cheese board for 2 or 4 guests :) You can also serve a Hummus and Roasted Veggies Board.
Gather these ingredients:
All you need are these charcuterie ingredients. Of course, as I always say, use what you have, and make it your own!
- Olli Salumeria packet (Parmesan cheese, sopressata salami, Genoa salami, Frescatrano olives)
- Mifroma Fondue Express (1 single serving, but perfect for 2 or 4)
- Hummus
- Pomegrante (if in season)
- Red grapes + apple + orange
- Mini artisan crackers
- Bello Rustico crackers
- Mini bread sticks (or fresh bread, cubed)
- RW Garcia Organic Sweet Potato Crackers
- Sweet Piquante Peppadews (I love these sweet red peppers!)
- Mixed nuts
- Endangered Species dark chocolate candy bars (our favorite)
- Fresh rosemary
How do you make an empty nester charcuterie board?
- On a”big board” set down the 4 nesting bowls, with the cheese fondue in the center. Fill the bowls, and while the fondue is heating up, fill in the board with all the other ingredients.
- For a board for 2, you can set the 2 wine glasses right on the board – FUN!
- Serve and enjoy!
Tips and substitutions:
- Do you have The Big Board? Buy it now for all your entertaining goals and holidays and special occasions coming up this year, so you are prepared!
- Thinking ahead, you may want it for any birthday, special occasions, and then Super Bowl, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, and Easter!
- Swap out the meats and cheese and crackers for your favorite brands.
- Instead of chocolate, set out a fun “sweet” nosh.
- Add dips, veggies, fruit – what is in season?
Serving
Set this board out for happy hour, a light dinner, game day, or bring to a party!
