GIVEAWAY DAY with S.D.G. Artistry, The Hip Hostess, and Where Women Cook
Today’s a fantastic day at RE because we’re giving away some beautiful gifts.
If you are seeking a wonderful gift for the treasured women in your life this holiday season, then look no further. One of the simplest pleasures of celebrating the holidays is giving to others.
The holidays can be occasions to connect deeply with God and one another, and to express creativity and appreciation, and to eat, laugh, enjoy – and to give.
I highly recommend any of these delightful gift ideas if you’ve not completed your shopping yet!
Where Women Cook: Celebrate!: Extraordinary Women & Their Signature Recipes
The newly released Where Women Cook: Celebrate! is a unique book showcasing 28 inspiring women. The book takes a peek into their kitchens, hearts and homes! Filled with stunning illustrations, heart-warming quotes, and mouth-watering recipes – this is a gift to be used for years to come to refer to for meal ideas and inspiration!
The stories alone make it a book I will keep in the basket where warm and cozy books sit, just waiting to be read. The recipes which go along with the stories are also fantastic. And did I tell you that RE has a featured dinner party included in the book, too? Very exciting … I’ll share a few of the pages with you.

I tend to go practical so I’m sure they’ll use the gift, rather than it collecting dust or getting regifted!

Do you tend to give more inspirational gifts or more practical gifts for the holidays?
I really do both. But if I had to choose I would say more practical gifts.
I try to be practical in my gift giving, even if it is a gift card for a college kid to hit their favorite coffee shop on their way to school. I really try to avoid the whole “I have to buy for so-in-so” situations and count it a privilege to give and try to make each gift special. What wonderful gifts in for a giveaway!
We tend to give practical gifts or gifts of homemade goodies.
I am sure you have heard this sweet little gift limerick before: “Something they want, something they need, something to wear, something to read.” I have been kind of using this framework in shopping for my family over the past couple of years (believe it or not, it helps me not to go overboard! :)). I, of course, address the practical needs of my family. But because my love language is “gifts”, I so enjoy the hunt of finding that “special something” that is inspirational and unexpected and sure to bring a smile to the recipient’s face. With friends? I guess I tend to buy the inspirational – because it is SO MUCH FUN TO DO!!
I tend to give both inspirational and practical gifts, depending on the person, my mood, and their wishlist or things I’ve heard them talk about.
I prefer to give practical, but fun gifts. Nothing so boring as an alarm clock, but a nice coffee cup (with a hidden sea creature inside) is a nice alternative and something people need, even if they don’t realize it!
I just tweeted about this! (I’m sati5000).

I give more practical gifts. Love the inspired; however I usually try to settle for something that I am positie the intended will get use out of.
I give more practical gifts. I like to think I’m filling a need and that my gift will be useful to the recipient.
I don’t go on Facebook or Twitter. As a Victim of Very Severe Domestic Violence (almost being killed) and my assailant just got out of jail, I have to be careful of what I do. Although I am remarried, I use my maiden name and try to keep a low profile. I however, would love the cookbook or the apron… it is funny because I was just thinking the other day how I wished I had an apron when I was cooking with a wool sweater dress on. And I wondered why people stopped wearing aprons. My grandmother always did. And this one is both pretty and practical. I usually try to give gifts that are both inspirational and practical. For instance, I gave one friend a book of ideas for creating beauty in your life in each season of the year (actually it is the last of a series I have given her over 2 years … one for her Birthday and Christmas and this is the last … I sent it early so she could have it before Christmas and winter begins). It has decorating ideas, gardening ideas, and it is both pretty and practical… a great idea book… large pretty pictures for putting on the coffee table… but it also tells you what you should do in your garden at this time of year… it has recipes… tips on wrapping packages or getting ready for guests or parties… so it inspires you with its beauty and gives you ideas to build on. Plus, she is an artist so just seeing beauty and color will inspire her to create in some way. I give a lot of books… books that have inspired me in some way… and sometimes they have practical lessons as well. But I lean more towards inspiration. I also love, love, love ribbons and collect special kinds and love to wrap the presents. That is great fun for me… I put some Christmas music on (or whatever I want to hear if it is not Christmas… and I may want to hear Christmas music in July !)…. and then I wrap and sing and it is not drudgery at all. I try to fit the wrapping to both the gift and the person. The God who created beauty didn’t have to… He could have given us a black and white world or a very dull world… instead there is beauty all around us and that inspires me every day in every season of the year. With winter approaching I look at all the bare trees that look like lace against the sky. There is beauty in every day and every season. We just have to open our eyes and take it all in and thank our Creator !
Like a lot of the other commenters, I give both! Sometimes it’s a blend, something practical to encourage them to pursue their gifts (like paints) or a goal (really good quality workout gear). With my kids, I try to get them something fun that encourages their gifts: a huge art/craft basket, sewing supplies, beautiful picture books … But they also get PJs on Christmas Eve and a new toothbrush in their stockings every year!
Absolutely, inspirational. All my kids, their spouses and children get an inspirational book of my choosing each year. Even my husband had started looking forward to his book.
I tend to give more inspirational gifts, they are more fun to give.
Practical with a dash of creativity–i.e. a date night package or fun gloves.
I always want to be creative but end up being practical.
