Can I mix up the cheese?

Yes, you can, but make sure and use sharp cheddar. Feel free to use Jack cheese, too. Or, you can delete one or two of the cheeses, but really, all the cheese makes this recipe!

Does the dip have to be served hot?

This dip is the best when served warm and fresh out of the oven. You will want to serve it with crackers and bread chunks. It will be ooey and gooey hot.

It’s almost just as good when served at room temperature, and this makes for the ultimate dip to serve with fresh cut veggies. As the dip sits, it will firm up once cooled to room temp.

It’s up to you – both options are amazing.

What kind of dippers can you serve with it?

We say serve this dip with a sturdy chip or cracker. Sturdy means that it is on the thicker side and won’t break when you dive in for a bite. :) You can use club crackers, Ritz crackers, or your favorite sturdy crackers.

Anything crunchy is delish! Think tortilla chips, pretzels, ridged potato chips (not the flat, delicate kind), or pita chips.

Tips for making jalapeno popper dip:

  • The dip is delicious hot or warm.
  • You can definitely add more “heat.” Add in more jalapeños or some cayenne pepper.
  • For softened cream cheese, I usually either leave it on the counter the night before, or heat in the oven for about 45 seconds to 1 minutes. Cut in small cubes, and it will soften up quickly in the microwave.
  • We love to bake our bacon (ADD RECIPE). You can do this ahead of time and store in the fridge.
  • If you don’t have panko bread crumbs, use crushed Ritz crackers.
  • Mix up the jalapenos by adding canned and fresh. Or, optional to use a can of green chilis.
  • Serve with with pita crackers, 1×1″ pieces of bread chunks, and then larger slices of veggies (colored bell peppers, carrot sticks, cucumber slices).
