Make-Ahead Frozen Berry Cobbler
This Make-Ahead Frozen Berry Cobbler, is perfect for any time of year! Make-ahead, cool, freeze, defrost, and heat up, or enjoy this dessert fresh!
On a quiet afternoon, the house is empty, as I wait for company to arrive in a few hours for dinner. The family is out doing their own things, and the house is filled with a sweet aroma of Make-Ahead Frozen Berry Cobbler bubbling up in the oven.
The low, constant thrum of neighbors chissling out old concrete on their remodel, geese flying overhead, neighbor girls barking as if they are dogs (so cute), and temps hovering in the low eighties, it all tells me autumn is here.
Next to me in our small living room sits our dog, Haggis, my notebook and laptop, and a few hints of autumn.
I went out to our garden and snipped some sweet potato leaves. So lovely for autumn in a pretty orange vase.
Every season I love sprucing up my house, changing out the pillows, adding a new seasonal color, and this year I bought a new fig plant. I’m going to do my best to keep it alive, as I hear they love a lot of light. Inspired by my friend Laurel’s plant, this is my new little friend.
It’s time to sit, to be still, to enjoy my freshly cleaned living room, to gather up a few thoughts here and put them into a post.
The direction of the sun and the ever-changing temperatures tell the story: summer has ended, as it always does, and way too soon. (These leaves … I just love them!)
We wish so desperately that seasons will linger, but the yearning for new is also strong. (Our kids almost 10 years ago. I also bring this photo out every year to celebrate the season!)
A place a fresh seasonal plant on the dining table.
In the evening our friends came, and we enjoyed a much cooler, charmed evening outside, rather than the hot, sultry moments that took place in our backyard this summer.
This time the menu and the “feel” is different, with glorious autumn in the air!
Make-Ahead Frozen Berry Cobbler
And time to pull cobblers and crisp recipes out of the oven …
I am so in love with this recipe today. There are so many options that make entertaining easy with this recipe!
Whether you make it fresh, bake and serve, or you make (bake) ahead and freeze, it’s a delicious go-to dessert for company!
HOW TO FREEZE:
- Pull from the freezer: Slow-thaw it in the fridge, possibly overnight. If you don’t have enough time try thawing it out in the microwave on a milder setting.
- Once it’s no longer frozen but still a bit cold, bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes until hot and bubbly. Put a sheet of tin foil over the top to prevent it from burning; remove the foil the last 10 minutes for a crispy crust!
Ready, set, go … I hope you’re inspired to get a cobbler in the freezer so it’s ready for company!
What’s your favorite autumn cobbler? And, do you up change colors in your sitting room to go with the season?

Your recipe calls for an 8×8 pan, yet the photos appear to show a 9×13… can you clear this up? 6 cups of berries seems like a lot for a 8×8 pan…
Hi there, no that pan is not a 9×13. I’ts more like 6 x 9, a weird shape! Yes, the berries is correct for this size as you cook them down. Thanks!
Hi! I am confused about the recipe can you please clarify I want to make this today.
I am using previously frozen strawberries that I thawed to use in a different recipe but my entertaining plans changed and I still want to use them if possible in a cobbler.
Can I follow your recipe then freeze the cobbler again to use at a later date.
In other words, the strawberries were frozen, defrosted in the fridge and now will be refrozen? Think it will be ok? I am thinking I will make the topping fresh before I cook and use it.
Any advice Thank you!!
Yes, I think it will be fine! Let me know if it turned out – YUM!
