I was thinking back to this quote I read years ago:
“Try to make at least one person happy every day, and then in ten years you may have made three thousand, six hundred and fifty persons happy, or brightened a small town by your contribution to the fund of general enjoyment.” — Sydney Smith
One of the reasons I love to practice hospitality is not only because I enjoy it, but because it makes people happy as well.
If you’re like me, you’re saving a lot of hosting ideas for when we can fill our houses again. For now, there are great ways to serve your family, or neighbors—to make food special.
Grab a board and get creative for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!
Or, if you want to send a Big Board as a gift to your loved one, it’s easy!

Can pear cake be frozen?
I’ve had a few friends ask about my Pear Buttermilk Breakfast Cake.
You actually can bake ahead and freeze this cake. Just make sure it’s completely cool, and the air is removed from the bag or container you are freezing it in.
You can defrost and serve it on a Breakfast Board when you’re in a pinch!
Make one person happy!
We’ve a ways to go till we’re safe to hug our friends or gather around tables, but we’re getting there! Like some of us are there!
I’m grateful to wake up each morning and begin another day. For in this time of great uncertainty, we have an opportunity to discover the best of ourselves, or to make that one person happy!
We can start where we are, by loving the people we’re with, or by reaching out to those who find themselves alone!
