Day 5: Setting the Table Using What You Have
Thanks for joining me in my “30 Days of Summer Entertaining” series.
A tablescape doesn’t have to be complicated when you’re entertaining outdoors.
I always look around to see what’s blooming in the yard before I choose my tablecloth, and then set my table.
Fresh blooms, a clean space, a light appetizer. You don’t even have to have a big meal to share an intimate time with friends.
For this centerpiece I used fresh mint from the back yard.
And mixed in pansies.
Get out of the habit of “over-doing” with your table by making it too elaborate.
Summer entertaining should be fresh and simple.
Oh, and with the ambience of lots of candles!
What’s your favorite outdoor summer centerpiece?
Feel free to grab my button and share it with your readers :).

That is so pretty! I usually go with sunflowers or zinnias both easy to grow in Wyoming.

Love this simple arrangement – and the best part – I already have a glass container identical to this one…..easy!
I have some Hen & Chick succulents in a blue pot that always looks good with a votives.
When we have good weather and entertain outside, I use a hurricane lamp with a pillar candle in the center surrounded by seashells. Sometimes I use small pots of herbs or mini vases of cut flowers at each setting. We have even used a huge bowl of fresh washed strawberriesor grapes in the center of the table for everyone to enjoy.
I bet your centerpiece smelled great with the mint. I like the idea of figuring out the centerpiece and then picking the tablecloth. I usually end of using white because it goes with everything. I definitely need to expand my tablecloth selection.
They looks very sweet!
I love this Sandy! I think people all too often forget the value of simplicity. And it doesn’t hurt that anyone who has mint in their yard probably has way more than they need (at least I do! lol Mine is going crazy!) Beautiful idea!
It’s lovely. How I wish our summers here weren’t such scorchers. We can’t really enjoy entertaining outdoors until the cooler months, although we do attempt it once in awhile.
You are so creative!!! I NEVER would have thought to do this. Love. Love. LOVE it!!! I think everything in that bowl is edible as well.
