Day 20. Thoughtfulness. Pears and Kindness.
Thoughtfulness.
Mom, do you want me to pick pears for you?
This autumn season, my son had the opportunity to pick pears in our friend’s orchard.
What a mom loves is when thoughtfulness is instigated by her kids, without her prompting.
Amen, amen!
I was over-the-moon happy and of course said, yes!
What will I do with these pears? They are Comice pears and not canning pears.
Delicious eating pears.
Pear butter (we did combine pears and apples for this recipe).
Lots of pear cobblers and crisps.
And maybe I’ll find some cute towels and wrap some up, and take them as hostess gifts when we are asked out.
I might weigh down my tablecloths with pears and burlap cloths for autumn outdoor entertaining, as long as the weather holds out.
Pears are the beloved fruit in our home.
For me, they bring great memories of canning as a child, and our kids love them.
The thoughtfulness of 5 boxes, I won’t forget.
Thinking of others.
Thoughtfulness.
How do you feel when your kids think up a “random act of kindness” without your prompting?

I love pears. I made a pear-ginger crumble with oats as the topping…oh my…the best ever. I did a pear apple pie this season too. I have also put popsicle sticks in the base of the pear and dipped the whole pear in white chocolate. They are the perfect Halloween ghosts…use cloves for eyes…better than candy apples!
Kids thoughtfulness is a blessing… :)
love these Sandy! Miss you hugs
I love pears, and would love to have the opportunity to pick some this fall. Your kids are such gems!
Your son was so sweet to pick those pears for you! I love it when my children think up a “random act of kindness”. It warms my heart like nothing else, and makes me so proud of them and the job my husband and I are doing to raise thoughtful children! :-)
Just bought my first bunch of local pears – waiting for them to ripen as they sit in a wooden bowl I brought from Morocco a few years ago – nothing says fall to me like fresh pears.
