Baked Bananas Foster a la Mode Dessert
This sweet whimsical Valentine’s table and Baked Bananas Foster a la Mode dessert is perfect for any intimate dinner party!
It’s just too cozy in our home to not stay home to dine with friends. I mean, I do love to eat out, but it’s much cozier around our table. There’s something about our conversation that seems a bit cozier, too, around our dinner table.
Throw open the doors!
On lovely sunny days, such as we had this past week, sometimes I just want to stay home and throw open the doors to let the sunshine in!
I did just that for a few hours last week. Even though there was a chill in the air, I opened the sliders and windows as a gentle breeze was coming in. The sunshine mixed with fresh air is sort of like a natural disinfectant.
Now if I could have only kept it that way as our friends came for dinner. Brrr … no open doors in January at 6 pm! (I love this quote, by the way!)
Set the table.
For table inspiration with flowers and design, I like to visit with my good friends Susie and Carol, who own a very cool shop in downtown Medford. This time we chatted about their new sweet line of whimsical wire Valentine fun!
I took a few puffy wire heart vases with a glass flower tube and set a lovely table.
A sweet hanging vase around the wine bottle.
Add the sunshine on top of the sweet hearts and flowers – I’d almost say that spring is here! But, not quite yet.
I snipped a few pink blossoms from an outside bush.
Two simple pink tulips and white candles. Peony line of dishes from Q Sauared NYC.
Sweet party favors for the guests.
Loved the softer color palate of pinks, grays, and white.
Sweet party favors – a different style heart for each guest.
Baked Bananas Foster a la Mode Dessert
And served this very sweet, simple dessert, adapted from Skinnytaste’s Baked Bananas Foster a la Mode, on vanilla ice cream, that only took a total of 15 minutes to make!
I love this recipe, because you can prepare it before the guests arrive.
Place the topping on the bananas. Use a premium vanilla!
Cover with foil and set aside until right before serving dessert; place it in the oven for 10 minutes.
Serve it hot over vanilla ice cream.
A delicious, sweet Valentine’s Dessert!

I love bananas foster. First had it in Las Vegas years ago. It is so easy to make and my family loves it.
Congratulations, Karen! That is so cool … on Valentine’s Day!
Beautiful table and yummy looking dessert!
Thanks, Kirstin!
Hi Sandy,
Looks very yummy and nice to have a simple, quick dessert to serve. Why do we think it has to be something complicated? less is often more allowing you to enjoy your guests and not stressing in the kitchen.
Just wondering what the type of cookies you served with it?
Thanks!!!!
Hi, Michelle! I served a Toasted Coconut Cookie Thins (from Trader Joe’s). One of our favorite “light” cookies! :)
