What is shrimp toast?
The original shrimp toast is a Chinese dim sum dish served on bread with a minced shrimp filling.
Of course for this homemade Bacon Shrimp Toast, we added bacon, because everything is better with bacon.
How do you make shrimp toast?
- Making shrimp toast is really pretty easy to do. The trick is to fry the toast lightly and not burn it. Even though I love the flavor of “burnt” toast (am I the only one?), be careful when toasting the bread.
- In a large pan, melt the butter and then add the bread to the pan. Toast until golden. Once browned, flip the bread and melt more butter into the pan, moving the bread slightly to absorb the butter. Toast more. Once done, transfer to a plate and set aside.
- As the bread is toasting in the butter, mix together the cream cheese, mustard, Camembert cheese, and salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
- Cook the bacon. Add the garlic and rosemary into the bacon grease; salt lightly.
- Finally, add the shrimp, and season with salt and pepper; cook until just pink and firmed—remove from the burner and allow the residual heat of the pan to finish cooking the shrimp.
- Spread the cheese onto the toasts. Top with the shrimp and bacon, a sprinkle of parsley, and a squeeze of lemon juice. Serve warm.

Once browned, flip the bread and melt 2-3 Tbsp more butter into the pan, moving the bread slightly to absorb the butter. Toast for an additional 4-5 minutes.
