When the holiday season rolls around, I can’t wait to set a pretty table. Of course, living in the mountains, we have access to so many branches and other forms of natural beauty. This table setting, and a lovely Hot Bacon Crab Dip Recipe. Can the holiday be any merrier?

Greenery and tea light candles brought together create a timeless, everyday holiday look.

A look that never goes out of style.

Start with a red table runner. (I also love this red theme, with pears!)

If you can pick up some festive plates, do it. (I bought these “MERRY” plates at our local Ace Hardware store:) Sometimes you can find entertaining pieces in the more unusual places, especially during the holidays. (The brand is Ragon House, and here’s a different version on Amazon.)

Of course, adding “new” is not mandatory to setting an elegant table. I keep a few solid colored plates on hand (red, blue, yellow, and white), some that I’ve had for years, that work with so many table settings. Solid colors never go out of style!

Add gingham napkins and one elegant lamp or light in the center of the table.

We all know, even with the best set table, the best dinner party is all about people carving out time for one another.

It’s about coming together over a delicious meal, but actual sitting and lingering together is many times more enjoyable than the food.

I love that we can savor both!
