For a luncheon, casual party or holiday idea for a large crowd, serve this vegetarian Best Veggie Sandwich Board. Add delicious toppings and bread!

Friends, I love a sandwich or cheese board for easy hosting! [Info to buy this board below!]

Start with the platter itself. I bought this one at Pier One a few years ago in store, and since, it’s been my best friend :)

Veggie Sandwich Board

Here’s a page of all the charcuterie/cheese boards and shopping lists on my blog, which also include sandwich boards and other great ideas.

The best options are usually the simplest ones. You can buy boards almost anywhere now. Just make sure it has a lip on it so the food doesn’t fall off.

Wooden boards add a rustic appeal, and I lay the food directly onto the board.

28-inch Charcuterie Board

Friends, here are the boards that I LOVE. A “lip” is the secret to the best charcuterie or dinner board, because the food does not fall off. [This post has affiliate links. Every purchase from these links supports RE at no extra cost to you. Thank you!]

Rememember it says it is “not food safe,” so you need to prepare the board by either laying down parchment paper under the food, or you can “season” it like we did.

Courtland Wooden Lazy Susan – 18-inch round. Buy >> HERE

LAZY SUSAN is a board that spins. It does NOT have a lip, but it’s cool for the center of the table.

Here’s an 18-inch wine barrel wood board or a 24-inch hammered large round tray or a 26-inch stainless steel serving platter that you may also like! Check out the weight on these boards.

How to season a Charcuterie Board

If a wood board says it “not food safe,” you can lightly sand it down with sand paper, and rub down with beeswax and mineral oil.

We used this butcher block and cutting board oil conditioner after we lightly sanded the board down.

Or, lay down parchment paper! Easy peasy!

My husband made me this board, Epic Rectangular Charcuterie Board. I love it for cheese and salsa, and recently took it to a party with these Roasted Sweet Mini Peppers.

Best Veggie Sandwich Board

Think veggies and cheese! Since it’s vegetarian, this board is super simple.

Use your favorite bread for making sandwiches, and then your favorite sandwich spreads.

I recently rediscovered my mandolin for easy slicing!

It’s one of my favorite kitchen tools, this OXO Good Grips V-Blade Mandoline Slicer. I slice all my veggies with this. Its so quick and easy! You can buy it here on Amazon (great reviews!) with my affiliate link.

How to assemble the board

  1. On a large platter, tray, or board, in the center place a bowl of guacamole. Garnish it with a whole radish.
  2. Around the guacamole, layer the sliced tomatoes.
  3. Around the outside of the board mix in the sliced bread and lettuce leaves.
  4. Fill 5 small bowls with pickles, mayonnaise, mustard, Ranch dressing, and sliced onions. Place the bowls on the board.
  5. In the open spaces layer the cheese, and fill with veggies and basil leaves.
  6. Optional to heat/toast the bread right before serving!

Why platters for hosting?

Platters and boards look (and taste) awesome for hosting!

You can prepare ahead; for the Epic board, you can slice and dice and prepare the food, then assemble right before the guests arrive.

Boards can be adapted to parties of different sizes and budgets.

They offer something for everyone!

Yes, what I love about boards is that people can customize their food to their favorite flavors!

In this case, an EPIC sandwich with tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, onions and a tasty mustard spread—is what I love!

ENJOY!
