Set the Table with Blackberry Lemon Cups Dessert
For a last-minute dessert, enjoy these Blackberry Lemon Cups Dessert. Fill mini fillo shells with lemon curd, jelly, mascarpone cheese; top with a berry!
Before the warm days leave us, I want to share a simple dinner party where we cozied up with our friends on our front deck. For dessert, we served a plate of these Blackberry Lemon Cups Dessert. The perfect bite! (Looking for another recipe with blackberries? You may love my Oven Baked Salmon with Blackberry Barbecue Sauce – wow!)
I love fall entertaining. If we host early enough (5 PM will do), with these warmer days, we can still enjoy eating outside. Keeping it simple, the Blackberry Lemon cups only took 5 minutes to make. Or, for another easy dessert, just serve gelato (my summer motto). :)
Do what makes your soul shine
I recently wrote on Instagram, “do what makes your soul shine.” For me, it’s inviting people over for a meal.
I can’t remember what we’ve served at so many dinners in our home, but we can tell you who came, and the depth of many of our conversations. Hosting is not for wimps … it takes effort, time, investment (but easy to do on a budget).
We prioritize people and we are happy people. We learned a lot about happiness on our Viking cruise in Europe. They say Aalborg is the happiest city in Europe. It’s because they experience hominess, warmth, coziness, … togetherness. And this is exactly why our family loves to host as much as we do.
That just goes to show you, hosting is not about fancy food and decor, but about making memories with the people around your table.
Blackberry Lemon Cups Dessert
Pull from the freezer mini fillo shells. Mix together the lemon curd and mascarpone cheese. Add your favorite berry on top!
Don’t forget the lemon zest for garnish.
Plate and serve!
Set the table
Set a simple fall table.
We bought the tablecloth and Hearth and Home (thank you Joanna Gaines) plates from Target.
Blue glasses and orange napkins from IKEA (do you stock up on their paper napkins like I do?)
Simple mums and fall flowers for a bright, beautiful touch.
Two of the main ingredients for our family are food and faith, so sitting down together with the people in our lives, and giving thanks, means everything to us.
I’m sad to see summer leave, but we welcome fall, and I have to admit, I’m getting excited for some “cozy” gatherings coming up!
