How do you roast nuts?
But first, how do you roast nuts?
- Spread mixed nuts onto a baking sheet.
- Bake, stirring several times in between the baking process, and return to the oven to continue baking.
- The length of baking depends on how toasted you like your nuts.
- Remove from oven, allow to cool, and enjoy!
How do you roast nuts in the microwave?
I do this all the time.
In a microwave safe dish (I used a Pyrex pie plate), place the nuts evenly in a single layer.
Microwave on HIGH heat for 2 minutes, stir, and continue to cook and stir at one minute intervals, until nuts are fragrant and light golden brown in color.
Or, place the nuts on a paper towel and heat on HIGH for one minute, rotating them around, and microwaving for another minute.
How to clean your pantry
This last summer, I actually paid Abby’s sweet, hard-working friend Grace to organize my pantry and cupboards, so now I have one box where I keep all my nuts. My pantry was a royal mess this summer. Now, thanks to Grace, I feel somewhat more organized.
- Open your fridge and pantry and take a look at what’s inside.
- Write it down. Go through each shelf and take inventory.
- Read the dates. Purge anything that’s expired or stale.
- Donate, donate. Place in a box items to donate to your local food pantry.
- Grocery list. Make a list of what you know you’ll need to get.
How to organize a pantry
Use boxes or small bins to hold smaller items, such as nuts, chocolate chips, baking items, dried fruit, etc. I use a rubber band to keep the package tight.
Group items together on shelves as you’ll use them.
Do you tend to stock up this time of year? I’m trying to be more mindful of what I am buying, and what I plan to bake or cook.
I decided not to stock up on too much, because I can always get extra ingredients as I need them, at a local grocery store.
For now, this recipe is easy to make ahead, place in little jars—a little healthy holiday gift or snack for your neighbor!
