Watermelon caprese bites
Summer is a great time to start, with this Easy Watermelon Skewers Recipe (also known as a watermelon caprese bites)! Perfect for Memorial Day weekend coming up, and all summer holidays! And do you wonder how to pick a superstar watermelon?
Life is short, so be intentional, don’t do the same thing over and over, but step out and be brave with your hospitality. I’m grateful I learned so much about hospitality from my mom. But I realize not everyone had a mom to teach this beautiful gift.
Mother’s day came and went
By the way, Mother’s Day came and went. It was a wonderful day, and I love this quote by Ann Voskamp. “Real Womanhood isn’t a function of becoming a great mother, but of being loved by your Great Father.”
So true. I felt blessed to have my 3 kids home, and it was a great weekend. I’m also humbled by the love that our kids have for me. [Read more of Ann’s post, here.]
You can see what our family was up to over at my Instagram story! [I asked for no gifts, but a family adventure.]
How to navigate Instagram stories
By the way, when you click over to Instagram, when you see a “rim” around my profile picture, you click my photo (of holding the charcuterie board) and you’ll see my video story! If there is “no rim” then there is no story. I hope that helps you navigate the stories on Instagram!
Watermelon skewers
I know, Watermelon Skewers are super good and summery and everyone loves (and makes) them). You may also want to try these Watermelon Feta Bites Appetizer or if you like meat, Watermelon Blue Cheese Prosciutto Bites. So good! Also try Grilled Watermelon with Smoked Salt and Jalapeno Rings!
I like to think of cooking as nothing about our ego (like bragging, I’m such a great cook), but more about just being creative with food, making it pretty, and thinking about the people who are going to eat it.
You know, when you’re cooking or preparing for company, how about just focusing on the guests, and thinking about maybe what you’d like to ask them, how to get to know them, or some creative table talk.
You can always change things up. The hosts that we’ve watched over the years have always had a knack for pulling it all together with good food, conversation, and really caring about their guests.
Hospitality is beautiful!

Easy Watermelon Skewers
Ingredients
- Watermelon
- Fresh mozzarella balls
- Blueberries
- Fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- Starting with small toothpicks or skewers place a large chunk of watermelon.
- Next skewer a mozzarella ball, a piece of basil (you can fold it over), and then 2 blueberries.
- Optional to drizzle with balsamic glaze! Serve!
These were a major hit at a recent party. Simple to make – beautiful presentation, easy to eat, and absolutely delicious.
I brought these to a party last Eve. They were very well received. I did half mozzarella, half feta. The feta ones were gone first. Also, I put a blueberry on either end of the toothpick, otherwise the watermelon kept sliding off. Did a light drizzle of Trader Giotto’s balsamic glaze.
YUM! This is definitely going on my list.
