Entertaining with Courage and Fruit Pizza Dessert Recipe
Here’s a beautiful Fruit Pizza Dessert recipe that you prepare in ahead of time, and it serves a crowd!
“Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway”. — John Wayne
I’ve always loved this quote. And when I think of entertaining, I still have a feeling of “fear” that comes over me when I see our guests pull up to our house.
Entertaining with courage
The cars arrive.
One-by-one they get out of their cars.
I see them walking to the front door.
My heart races – just a tiny bit.
What did I forget?
Clean towels in the bathroom?
Windexed the front of the fridge?
Water poured and salt/pepper on the table?
Prep work done?
My heart is ready to embrace and love?
I still get nervous
Even after 22 years of entertaining I still get nervous – at first.
But then it goes away, as I greet the guests at the front door. A warmness fills the room, putting all imperfections and awkwardness aside.
We hug and greet and takes purses and coats to the back room.
We invite everyone in and offer them a drink.
The best is yet to come. A night of relaxation, good food, a feeling of love.
Just being together.
We saddle up and take the ride together.
Do you feel calm when you entertain? Or do you still get the initial feeling of fear that comes over you?

You are so inspiring! I still feel the same way about entertaining, but it is one of my absolute favorite things to do. And once friends walk in the door, I remember why. :)
This fruit pizza sounds like a definite crowd-pleaser!
Words of wisdom by John Wayne. How cool is that! Love this fruity pizza!
I’m with Paula – wine helps lol! I love this fruit pizza, what a great idea to serve or bring for dessert for spring & summer get togethers!
My son considered this quote for his senior year book, such a good one! I am always second guessing and always forget something, but in the end it’s just fun to spend time with my family and friends! Love this fruit pizza, so yummy.
Love that quote Sandy. We entertain all the time and I always have a glass of wine before everyone shows up to calm the nerves. :)
I am the exact same way. A glass of wine always helps me ;)
I’m the same way…nerves at first. Love the fruit pizza. Wonderful post Sandy!
I’m pretty calm, unless I mis judged the timing of things, then I might get a little frazzled. Love fruit pizza. I’ve made this often in the past as well. For appetizers I like to make a “veggie” pizza!
Sandy, am I correct to assume that you heat the cream so it is warm enough to melt the white chips? This sounds so good and I will be making a big meal for a friend’s moving day soon. I think it would be good to make.
Thanks
Jan
John Wayne has so many good quotes!! Love this post, because yes, I have little bouts of panic when I need to saddle up and ride some courage! :)
