Friends, have you thought about hosting a summer dinner with a friend and serving a Heirloom Tomato Burrata Salad recipe? Sometimes hosting together can take the pressure off of the hostess, because you don’t have to do it all. You can share expenses and divide up the recipes. Easy and fun!
Heirloom Tomato Burrata Salad
Today I’m sharing a delicious recipe to share at a dinner party, a Heirloom Tomato Burrata Salad, served on a big platter. You can also add berries, like this tomato and burrata appetizer (or summer berry salad).
Why we love this recipe
- It’s the ultimate summer salad, with beautiful presentation.
- It only takes minutes to make a “deconstructed” salad.
- Simple ingredients.
- Crowd pleaser!
Gather these ingredients
Ripe nectarines and heirloom tomatoes. You can pick these up at farm stands or the Farmer’s Market. Don’t forget the basil. Buy good quality burrata cheese, crostini pieces (slices) or croutons, and then balsamic and salt!
Fairly easy ingredients!
- Ripe nectarines: you can also use apricots or peaches or berries
- Burrata cheese
- Large heirloom tomatoes: you can also use heirloom cherry tomatoes
- Seasoned crostini slices
- Whole basil leaves
- Balsamic vinegar
- Salt
What is burrata?
Burrata is a fresh Italian cow milk cheese (burrata, meaning “buttery”) made from mozzarella and cream. The outside shell is solid mozzarella, while the inside contains a soft, stringy mixture of cream and curd. It is usually served fresh and at room temperature.
How do you make a burrata salad?
- On a large serving platter, arrange the nectarines, tomatoes, burrata, crostini pieces, and basil leaves.
- Splash with balsamic vinegar and a crack of salt. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Hosting a meal with a friend is easy! Maybe you don’t want to do it by yourself, or you don’t want to do it in your home. No worries, just ask a friend if you can share the meal planning and invite mutual friends!
And did you know? It’s been proven that hospitality benefits us in the long run because we will have healthier and longer lives than those who are lonely.
How to share hosting a meal
- Find a friend who wants to share the meal planning (and cost) with you and decide whose home you’ll host in.
- Divide up the meal; remember to ask guests to contribute (this will be so affordable, you’ll want to do it again!)
- Invite and set the date.
- Cook together or bring your dishes to the other home (or vice versa), and set up and get ready together!
