Friends, I don’t know about you or your family, but we love, love, love seafood in our household. So when we indulged in this Tropical Seared Ahi Salad Recipe a few weeks ago, we felt like we were in paradise.

Tropical Seared Ahi Salad Recipe

We have quite a few seafood recipes on RE, like Asian Tuna with Toasted Sesame, Thai Noodle Seafood Dish, and Seafood Sweet Potato Risotto Recipe. All so good!

Last week Paul and I enjoyed a bit of paradise on Waikiki Beach on our layover to Australia, but ahi tuna also reminds me so much of our time in Kauai a few years ago, when we went to the fish market and ate our dinner at sunset.

This recipe today is light and easy. And you can buy ahi tuna steaks at Costco (if you are a Costco shopper).

Ingredients you will need

Ahi tun steak, lettuce, mango, cucumber and avocado. Shredded carrots, radish, jicama, peanuts, and sesame oil. Don’t forget the sesame dressing!

How to make a Chopped Seared Ahi Salad

To make a chopped salad, cut your veggies and fish into smaller cubes and pieces.

How to prepare ahi tuna

Wash your tuna steak under cold water, then dry it thoroughly with paper towels. Set aside.
Mix together sesame seeds and pepper. Salt both sides of your steak, then dip into the sesame seeds and pepper—nestle the steak into the seasoning and make sure all sides are covered, including the outside edges.

How to sear ahi tuna

Heat the sesame oil in a nonstick pan. When oil is hot, lay the steak in and sear for about 2 minutes on each side. Use tongs to sear the edges of the steak, too (but only for about 30 seconds). Allow to cool slightly, then, cutting against the grain, slice tuna into 1/2 inch thick strips.
Next, take all the salad ingredients and prepare a beautiful cuisines ? salad.

Add the ahi, sliced to perfection.

Eat the rainbow is right–how gorgeous is this?

In a few weeks, we’ll be over on the Oregon Coast at the happiest place in the world (our happy spot, Pacific City), camping with dear friends in our Sprinter Van. We can’t wait. Of course we’ll be eating as much seafood as possible!

Enjoy!
