Ugly Christmas Sweaters Charcuterie Board
Right? We are all busy this time of year, so we need to show a little grace with each other. :) But … have you ever been invited to an Ugly Sweater Christmas Party? [wink-wink] Grab all the details for this board size at the bottom of the post!
Host an Ugly Sweater Party
Nothing says the “holidays” like an ugly Christmas sweater. So today we’ve come up with the perfect menu: An Ugly Christmas Sweaters Charcuterie Board!
Invite your friends to a casual appetizer dinner, and ask them to show off their own ugly sweaters!
Ugly Christmas Sweaters Charcuterie Board
For this board today, I’ll be honest. We did not actually host this party, but we were going to. We bought a fixer upper last month and life got busy!
BUT … Abby and I had gathered the “fun ingredients” a while ago, so we ran with it.
We also thought about “retro” foods, and that was great!
Retro foods to include
- Jello mold and fruit cake
- Spam and cheese balls
- Black olives and pigs in a blanket
- Peanut brittle and peanuts
You may have seen my Epic Retro Spam Charcuterie Board last year. This board is a spin-off of that board, but everyone must wear an ugly Christmas sweater!
Serve your favorite cocktails, and if it’s a large party, ask everyone to bring a retro potluck dish!
This board can be the “centerpiece” of the party!
How to host an ugly sweater party
- Invite your guests. Ask them to wear an ugly sweater. You can buy them at thrift stores, raid your grandma’s closet, or look online for the ugliest holiday sweaters you can find!
- The center of your ugly sweater party food table? This charcuterie board! For the rest of the food, forget gourmet — go retro and fun.
- To drink, offer an assortment of green and red sodas and Shirley Temples [optional to spike with vodka].
How to make the ugly sweater board
- On a prepared board, place the fruit cake and jello (each on a plate). In small dishes, put the cheese ball, olives, and cherries.
- Make ham and pickle skewers by wrapping the ham around the pickle and cutting into small pieces, threading with a small skewer.
- Make pigs in a blanket with crescent rolls and hot dogs. Cut into bite-size pieces.
- Place 2 small bowls of mustard and ketchup near the pigs in a blanket.
- Fill in the open ares with the remaining foods.
Make your people feel special and excited for the night!
Now let’s have fun!
Oh, and Alder the Whoodle got a sweater for the party, too! Enjoy!

Hi! I’m a new reader of your blog (and I just love it!)
You probably have mentioned this before but as for preparing the tray to be food safe:
1. Do I need to use beeswax after I sand it or just use the butcher block oil you recommended?
2. Can I just clean it with soapy water after each use or do I need to scrub it with a lemon paste?
3. Do I need to apply oil after every cleaning (similar to cast iron)?
Thanks!
Hi there, most of the “board” posts have info about this :)
