Ice cream is one of my not-so-secret pleasures. I love the cold creaminess of it, and with so many flavors to try, I never get tired of it. This Strawberry Nutella Ice Cream recipe is particularly good. It’s rich – but not too rich – and decadent, with just the right amount of chocolate and strawberry flavor.

Strawberry Nutella Ice Cream

Once the weather warms up, it doesn’t take long for me to start wanting to make ice cream. The best part of this ice cream is that you don’t need an ice cream maker, and no churning! Keep your strawberries in slightly larger pieces to get a nice burst of flavor in every bite.

I love making this Nutella ice cream when fresh, local strawberries are ready, but honestly, the strawberries in the grocery stores are so good that this is a great year-round treat.

Your ice cream will need a few hours to freeze solid in the freezer, so give yourself a bit of time. Then, serve it in a bowl garnished with fresh berries, or sandwich it between freshly made chocolate chip cookies for a special treat.

Tips & substitutions

  • Keep the heavy cream chilled until ready to whip.
  • Look for sweetened condensed milk NOT evaporated milk – they’re not the same.
  • Make sure the Nutella is soft before trying to mix it in. You can warm it up in the microwave for 20 seconds if it is cold or very stiff.
  • Don’t cut the strawberries too small! You want to be able to see and taste them.
  • Fresh strawberries work best in this recipe.

Serving suggestions

If I’m feeling fancy or having guests, I’ll serve this frozen dessert in a cute glass or bowl and top it with a sliced strawberry or two and a bit of fresh mint. But I also love it sandwiched between two cookies. Chocolate chip cookies, these tasty hearty-shaped waffle cookies, and double chocolate chip cookies all make amazing Nutella ice cream sandwiches.
