Here’s a page of all The Big Board ideas and shopping lists on my blog, which also include sandwich boards and other great ideas.
The best options are usually the simplest ones. You can buy boards almost anywhere now. Just make sure it has a lip on it so the food doesn’t fall off.
Wooden boards add a rustic appeal, and I lay the food directly onto the board.
Best Veggie Sandwich Board
Think veggies and cheese! Since it’s vegetarian, this board is super simple.
Use your favorite bread for making sandwiches, and then your favorite sandwich spreads.
I recently rediscovered my mandolin for easy slicing!
It’s one of my favorite kitchen tools, this OXO Good Grips Chef’s Mandoline Slicer. I slice all my veggies with this. Its so quick and easy! You can buy it here on Amazon with my affiliate link.
How to assemble the board
- On a large platter, tray, or board, in the center place a bowl of guacamole. Garnish it with a whole radish.
- Around the guacamole, layer the sliced tomatoes.
- Around the outside of the board mix in the sliced bread and lettuce leaves.
- Fill 5 small bowls with pickles, mayonnaise, mustard, Ranch dressing, and sliced onions. Place the bowls on the board.
- In the open spaces layer the cheese, and fill with veggies and basil leaves.
- Optional to heat/toast the bread right before serving!
Why platters for hosting?
Platters and boards look (and taste) awesome for hosting!
You can prepare ahead; for the Epic board, you can slice and dice and prepare the food, then assemble right before the guests arrive.
Boards can be adapted to parties of different sizes and budgets.
They offer something for everyone!
Yes, what I love about boards is that people can customize their food to their favorite flavors!
In this case, an EPIC sandwich with tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, onions and a tasty mustard spread—is what I love!
ENJOY!
