We love this end-of-summer dessert that is so easy to make! Combine blackberries and lemon in little tartlets and for the perfect bite! This recipe is so easy to make, just buy the pre-made mini fillo shells. You can even get the kids in the kitchen and have them help you make dessert!
Blackberry Tarts
Before the warm days leave us, give this simple recipe a try. These bites are super fun to serve at a diner party. Serve with a creamy lemon chicken pasta, and a fall cobb salad. They are elegant, bright and fresh, tasty and once you pop one in your mouth, you’ll want more!
Why we love this recipe
- It’s light and simple – no baking involved!
- Buy blackberries at Costco (usually large and juicy)
- Only takes minutes to make!
Keeping it simple, the Blackberry Tarts only take about 5 minutes to make. Or, for another easy dessert, just serve gelato (my summer motto). :)
Gather these ingredients
- Athens mini fillo shells
- Mascarpone cheese
- Lemon curd
- Blackberry jelly, or any berry jelly
- Large blackberries
- Lemon, for zesting
How do you make blackberry cups?
- Plate a package of mini fill shells (remove from the freezer and put on a plate—no baking involved).
- In a small bowl, whip together the lemon curd, jelly and mascarpone cheese. Fill the cups with a teaspoon of the mixture.
- Place a large blackberry (or your favorite berry) on top.
- Zest a lemon and sprinkle on top of the cups; serve!
Tips and substitutions:
- Replace the blackberries with other summer berries.
- Use any “berry” jam.
- Lemon zest on top is optional, but it really makes the dessert.
- Don’t make too far ahead, as they will get soggy.
- If you have leftovers, eat within the next day. Also, this is not a freezable dessert.
- Optional to add a tiny dab of fresh whipped cream on top before adding the berries.
Blackberry Lemon Cups Dessert

Sandy, I was thinking as empty nesters now how do you cook dinners for just the two of you? I bet I’m not the only follower on your blog in a small household now and cooking for just one or two is much different. Easy to fall into the frozen entrees and cereal for dinner. Not all recipes for 6-8 servings reduce well or seem like an after thought. Thanks.
We make a lot of protein for tacos, salad, grilling, etc. and love the leftovers. We use our air fryer a lot, too. Enjoy pasta dishes, big dinners with the kids! We still do a lot of cooking :)
