Fried Pickle Dip
If you’ve been following us on RE for long, you know that we’re all about good dips. You may have already tried this BLT dip, Cottage Cheese dip, and Greek Yogurt Ranch dip. Parties are all about good snacks, and what we love about this recipe is you can serve it with chips or veggies (or both).
This Fried Pickle Ranch Dip is also great for game day, a summer party, or a potluck or gathering. It’s a great party dip! We specifically love it served with this Epic Hot Dog Board or these burgers.
Why we love this recipe
- You can throw it together easily, and have it ready to serve in minutes.
- It feeds a large gathering.
- You can make it ahead and store in the fridge. Just make sure and add the garnish of pickles and onions right before serving.
Ingredients for Fried Pickle Dip
- Pickles: Refrigerated dill pickle spears or chips and sweet pickles
- Ranch seasoning
- Garlic
- Fresh dill
- Onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Lemon juice (1/2 a lemon), freshly squeezed
- Whipped cream cheese: we buy the pre-whipped
- Sour cream
- Pickle juice (either one or both kinds)
- Crispy fried onions: the kind that you buy in the can
How do you a Pickle Dip?
- In a mixing bowl, add chopped pickles (reserve 1 tablespoon for garnish), ranch seasoning, garlic, fresh dill, onion powder, lemon juice, cream cheese, sour cream, pickle juice. Gently stir. Season to taste with salt and ground black pepper.
- Gently add in the crispy fried onions and mix until incorporated. Reserve 1 tablespoon of the crispy fried onions for garnish (right before serving).
- Cover and rerigerate so the flavors can develop.
- Before serving, sprinkle with reserved pickles, crispy fried onions, and fresh dill.
Tips and substitutions:
- Make in advance: You can make this up to 3 days in advance. Just don’t top it with the toasted Panko until right before serving.
- Dairy-free: To make a dairy-free version, substitute the sour cream, cream cheese, and butter for non-dairy alternatives.
- Relish: You can use relish if you need to, but we prefer fresh chopped pickles. The consistency is just not the same with relish (or the crunchiness).
- Gluten-free: Make it gluten-free and substitute the Panko for gluten-free breadcrumbs.
- Dill: Swap out the fresh dill for your favorite dill (but we do think dill pickles go best with fresh dill).
How do you serve a creamy pickle dip?
Right before serving, top with the Panko, fried onions, and fresh dill.
This dip is typically served as an appetizer or snack and can be enjoyed with celery, carrots, cucumbers, crackers, pretzels, pita chips or hot mozzarella sticks!
Our favorite? Served with crunchy, crinkle potato chips!
How to store
In airtight container, store leftovers in fridge for up to 3 days.
Enjoy this weekend with chips, pretzels, or vegetables. No matter how you eat it, this Fried Pickle Dip is a winner!
