Greek Yogurt Ranch Dip

I love having the ingredients on hand to make this easy dip recipe. Greek yogurt will be fresh in the fridge for a few weeks (watch the expiry date on the container) and the ranch dressing powder is shelf-stable for quite a long time.

What is Greek yogurt?

What’s the difference between Greek yogurt and regular yogurt? Greek and regular yogurt are both made from the same ingredients, but Greek yogurt has been strained and is much thicker than traditional yogurt. There are some nutritional differences, too. Greek yogurt is higher in protein, and regular yogurt is lower in calories.

How to make homemade Greek yogurt

Greek yogurt is available in just about all grocery stores, but did you know you can make it at home? It’s easy to make homemade Greek yogurt. You’ll need some cheesecloth (though I have used paper towels in a pinch), a strainer, and plain yogurt. Simply line a strainer with a few layers of cheesecloth or paper towels and add the yogurt. Set the strainer over a bowl to catch the liquid, and let it drip/drain for a few hours. The result is thick and creamy Greek yogurt!
