HGTV HOME by Sherwin-Williams Paint for #MountainHome
Welcome to our home where we recently painted our great room with HGTV HOME by Sherwin-Williams paint, creating a beautiful living space!
Friends, I’ve been dying to share with you the transformation of our mountain home here in central Oregon! We had very little time to get started with our renovation, because our move-in date kept getting pushed back. But finally (with a lot of patience), our boys were able to join us (between work and college finals), for the grand push to get our living space and great room painted and ready to move in!
We do plan to replace the lighting, since these chandeliers are from 1984.

We did it! Thanks also to HGTV HOME by Sherwin-Williams paint!
We decided to use this premier brand of paint because of the design expertise of HGTV HOME, and the legendary quality of Sherwin-Williams—the perfect combination for our project here in the woods and high desert of central Oregon.
With this home surrounded by so many trees, we knew the continual shade would drown out the brightness and ambient light that could really make this home pop, which is why we decided to paint this beautiful great room and fireplace a soft linen-y white.
Or, some may say a very light gray.
Paint color: Nuance White
We call it – NUANCE.
Shopping at Lowe’s, HGTV HOME by Sherwin-Williams paint was easy to pick out, and it gave me the confidence and guidance I needed to select the right colors. I was also inspired by one of my best friends, Laurel’s, home, as she painted her entire house this color. Gorgeous!
Now for the nitty-gritty.
The before.
The after.
This CS Lewis quote slays me every time. It perfectly speaks to my heart’s desire of what our home should be. I love the mountains, and my husband and I have always dreamed of having a cabin or a home, with the great outdoors as a backdrop.
“If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world.” – CS Lewis
And here we are.
Renovating a small home in the woods.
Just saying, friends, I really love this Nuance White color, so peaceful on the inside, so that the beauty from God’s gracious colors can speak from the outside.
We also painted the fireplace a Paris Gray chalk paint (Annie Sloan), inspired by Melissa at The Inspired Room. Now the fireplace pops!
Both the morning glow, and the afternoon light streaming through the windows, are fabulous.
Oh, and I just made our first batch of cookies in this house. Recipe to come, I promise!
So now you’ve seen the front and the back of our home. But what’s going on at the side?
A kitchen remodel. More to come! :)
This post is sponsored by HGTV HOME by Sherwin-Williams, who provided us with the paint for our new home! As always, all opinions are my own.
Hi. I just found this post through Pinterest and love the color you chose. I could not find that color name (Nuance White) on the Sherwin Williams website. Do you know if it changed and if so what is the new name? Also I like the chandeliers and the whole house!
I’m not sure. Let me look into it to see what color is similar!
Sandy – where did you get that tree picture? I lost that site and need to order another picture.
THANKS!
Sandra
It’s from MINTED, Sandra! :)
Makes me want to paint my brick fireplace, too. Just might do it!
Beautiful. Love the colors you chose. So peaceful to look at; I can only imagine how much better in person when spending time there with all the natural light coming into the room(s).
I like the chandeliers, also. Do you have more posts on this house? I love Oregon. We had a house in Bend for a week once, fun times. I live in a house on a lake in Western Va., a cabin on a lake in Mn., and a hi rise condo on the water in Miami Beach. We love water! And I love reading your blog.
Hi, Gayle. There are a few links in this post to the original home when we bought it. I’m torn on the lighting, too. But, want to update them! :) Thank you for your kind words!
It looks fantastic!
Awh, thanks Tara!
Wow Sandy, it looks beautiful! So elegant while still having a rustic mountain feel. I love it!
Thanks friend. Hope you get to come visiti me SOON! :)
Sandy, Congratulations on this brave step of moving and renovating. Lots of changes, lots of lessons, but sounds as though you are determined to make the adjustments. And embrace the kind of life you both have wanted. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
There are many things that I liked about the Before pics as well as some of the Afters. The light fixture over the dining table would look great painted and/or with little lamp shades. That would give a whole new look without the hassle and expense.
Have enjoyed catching up with you. My computer was out of commission for quite awhile.
I may just have to try that idea … painting and updating it myself, Joan. Great tip! I’ve missed you, glad you are back!
