Banana Lemon Bread is perfectly moist and soft loaf bread that comes together quickly and easily. It has lavendar in the recipe, which adds a flavorful touch. No need for an icing on this bread, too. Just a tiny spready of butter or cream cheese. YUM!

How do you make banana bread?
- In mixing bowl, combine butter and sugar, mixing until smooth. Add in egg, sour cream, lemon zest, vanilla, lavender extract, and bananas. Mix and set aside
- In separate bowl combine flour, baking soda and powder, and salt. Whisk together until blended.
- In loaf pan, grease and then dust the sides with flour. Pour In batter until it fills the pan halfway.
- Bake!
Remove and allow to cool briefly. - Serve warm or cooled.
Where do you get lavendar extract?
Lavender extract is made like vanilla extract – vodka and lavender, and steeps for a couple of weeks in it. We do not recommend using lavender essential oil instead of the extract. Some e-oils are okay to use in foods, some are not.
You can buy lavendar extract at Sur La Table, Amazon, World Market, and specialty stores.
You can also leave out the lavendar.
Food is a way to show love to others! So how about sharing a loaf of this Lavender Lemon Banana Bread Recipe with a neighbor or someone you know very little about this week?

You can use lavender seeds – sparingly is best. I blitzed them for a moment in a chopper first (though it didn’t do much). I added about 1-2 teaspoons’-worth. When I asked my husband to guess the mystery ingredient he suggested washing-up liquid, but he did then ask for a second slice, so he can’t have found it offensive!
Oh, and I cut the sugar by about half – this amount seemed way too much to me and it was fine as I did it.
Lavender extract is made like vanilla extract – vodka and lavender, and steep for a couple of weeks in it. I went into our natural food grocer and the wellness department said absolutely do NOT use lavender essential oil instead of extract. Some e-oils are okay to use in foods, some are not, this one he said is not unfortunately. I did google it and see that Sur La Table stores sell it and you can get it online via Amazon and Sur La Table as well.
Where to find lavender extract? Thanks!
I know you can get it at a specialty store or even a health store! :)
This recipe looks delicious!! There’s nothing like a good homemade bread to fill me with happiness hahah Thanks for sharing!
Can you use lavender essential oil instead of extract?
Yum! It can be so easy to get in a rut of not meeting neighbors. Our neighbors are all spread out since most are on at least 1 acre, and many work, or we just don’t see them that often. This bread sounds good. Not sure my hubby would like it, but I think I would.
