Why I love this recipe
- I love chocolate and easy desserts and this is both of those!
- You can make it the day before and keep it in the fridge until ready to serve.
- No baking means less cooking time and a cooler kitchen!
Gather these ingredients
- Graham cracker crumbs
- Melted butter
- Light cream cheese – Softened.
- Granulated sugar

- Heavy whipping cream
- Powdered sugar
- Vanilla
- Shaved chocolate chips – To garnish your pie.
How to make No-Bake Chocolate Mousse Pie
- Combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and ¼ cup of granulated sugar in a bowl until combined.
- Press the butter-crumb mixture into the bottom of a pie pan or plate and set it aside.
- Combine the cream cheese and remaining granulated sugar in a large bowl. Mix with a hand mixer on medium speed until the sugar is dissolved.
- Add the chocolate chips and ½ cup of heavy whipping cream to a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals whisking between each interval until smooth and combined. Let cool to room temperature.
- Whip 1 cup of the heavy whipping cream with a hand mixer on high until thick. Add 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar and ½ teaspoon vanilla extract until combined.
- Combine the cooled chocolate mixture and cream cheese mixture until well mixed, then fold in the whipped cream mixture to finish the mousse. Use a hand mixer on low to mix until it is light and fluffy.
- Transfer the mousse to the prepared pie plate and refrigerate for several hours or overnight or pop it into the freezer for a few hours to quickly set.
To finish your pie
- Whip the remaining whipping cream with a hand mixer on high until thick, then whip in the remaining powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Smooth this whipped topping over the top of the pie.
- Top the pie with shaved chocolate, cut, and serve!
Tips & substitutions
- You can make the pie all the way up to adding the topping a day ahead of time. The whipped cream topping is best made fresh and just before serving.
- Swap dark chocolate for milk chocolate to make a dark chocolate mousse pie.
- Add a few spoonfuls of chocolate syrup to the heavy whipping cream when making the topping to make chocolate whipped cream topping for your pie.
- A hand mixer will make quick work of this recipe, but you can also use the whisk attachment on a stand mixer.
Serving suggestions
This tasty no-fuss dessert goes well with so many dishes! I love serving it right from the fridge after a BBQ feast of Grilled Margarita Shrimp Skewers or grilled pork tenderloin. This is also a terrific pick for fancier dinner parties. I also love taking this dessert along when we go to friends and family events where dishes like this Taco Casserole take center stage.
Storage
The great thing about chocolate mousse pie is that it can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days. TIP: Add the whipped cream right before serving.
If you want to make ahead and freeze, do not add the whipped cream on top (with chocolate) until you are ready to serve. The pie does freeze well (wrap it well to prevent freezer burn), and allow to defrost.
