Getting to know people in a new way is always on our mind. Since moving to a new town 2 years ago, we’ve been forming new friendships. Don’t get me wrong, these friendships do not replace the many we’ve made over the years.
Pear Quinoa Salad
We’re just adding more into the fold. :) (Read on for this Delicious Pear Quinoa Salad recipe!)
What I love about getting to know new people is that we’re challenged to listen more. To lean in, and hear their stories, because this is how you get to know people.
We’re learning to be better listeners and more compassionate.
Just in time for any season entertaining, or my favorite lunch, is this Pear Quinoa Salad. Or, maybe you’re a strawberry lover this time of year. Enjoy this Strawberry Quinoa Salad with Fresh Basil – yum!
What is the secret for ripening pears?
Pears are usually picked unripened, so you either have to have patience and wait while they ripen, or do something quick!
Quicken the ripening of pears in one of the following ways:
- Remove from the refrigerator and leave the pears at room temperature.
- Place in a brown paper bag with a ripe banana or apple.
Delicious Pear Quinoa Salad
I have a whole list of quinoa salads on my blog, but this Pear Quinoa Salad is one of my favorites. It’s a hit at every party, and even delicious as a main dish (just add chicken).
Sweet Posy flowers
This past Sunday I deconstructed a bouquet of flowers from our local Sweet Posy Floral here in Bend, OR, cutting off the stems, placing them on this tiered pedestal.
So pretty. A true reminder of the the beauty of color (can you believe all the color we get to enjoy every single day? with the lakes only 20 minutes away?), and the fine details of nature.
Also, flowers always remind me of friendships. A big beautiful bouquet reminds me of the many friends in my life. Every person so unique and special, with their own story of who they are today. I think about the blessings of the rich friendships that go years back for me. Childhood, high school, roommates (before marriage), and during our child-rearing years. And now in our golden years!
