What are the best tomatoes for salads?
We used smaller tomatoes in our salad, but you can also use cherry tomatoes.
You can buy them on or off the vine, and they range from a bit smaller than a cherry to about double in size. They are the perfect tomato for fresh summer salads.
Heirloom Tomatoes
For years we grew quite a variety of heirloom tomatoes in our backyard. You can also buy them at the local farmer’s market in the summertime. Make an Heirloom Tomato Caprese Salad with balsamic glaze or balsamic vinegar, both of which give it a punch of flavor.
The balsamic glaze can be found at Delallo online or in the grocery stores. It’s a thicker and sweeter than balsamic vinegar. We’ve tried other brands, and Delallo is nice and thick (they have the best flavors).
ENJOY!
