Why we love this board

We love setting out a Winter Pie Dessert Charcuterie because you can make it ahead, in preparation for guests. All the desserts are in one place, and who doesn’t love pie with whipped cream?

When we saw these mini pies at Walmart, we grabbed several winter flavors for this board.

This dessert board was very affordable and everyone gets to serve themselves. Kids especially love a pie board!

This pie board originated back in 2019, with our summer and Fall Mini Pie Charcuterie.

What do you add to a Dessert Charcuterie Board?

If you love mini fall pies, then you can use those flavors for this winter board. The only difference is we did not add pumpkin to the winter board. We used apple, blueberry, and pecan—my 3 personal favorite flavors of pie.

Choosing what you want to put on the board depends on the season you are going for. For this particular board, I wanted to present mini pies for the holidays in a special way. Boards are special, and they are easy to prepare ahead of time. I love how festive and beautiful they can be!

Below we’ve listed some of our favorite dessert-style boards for more ideas.

What is a dessert charcuterie?

Charcuterie means the art of preparing and assembling cured meats. A normal charcuterie board is an assortment of meats, cheeses, bread, olives, fruit, and nuts, all artfully arranged on a serving board, tray, or platter.

But for this board, instead of meats and cheese, we have added mini pies and desserts, to create a “dessert charcuterie.” The beauty of any charcuterie board is there is no right or wrong way to prepare them—just make them your own! It’s always fun to see the variety of pie boards out there since this Epic Summer Mini Pie Board became so popular back in July 2019.

how to make a Winter Pie Dessert Charcuterie

How do you arrange the board?

  1. Start with one of our Big Boards – they are food safe, with a raised edge, and made in the USA! We’ve sold thousands in the USA (now new in Canada), and everyone loves the big board!
  2. Using a 20-24-inch rimmed round charcuterie board, place a serving bowl in the middle of the board to hold the whipped cream. Arrange the pies around the board.
  3. Arrange cookies between pies and around the whipped cream bowl. Fill in the open spots with pecan halves, grapes, raspberries, and apple slices.
  4. Serve! You have a beautiful winter charcuterie board—perfect for winter and Christmas entertaining.

With the holidays right around the corner, this DIY Dessert Charcuterie Board will surely be a hit at your next Christmas or winter party.

Make the Cinnamon Spice Whipped Cream:

  • Add the heavy whipping cream, confectioners’ sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment OR in a large mixing bowl using a handheld mixer.
