Serve an EPIC Chili Dinner Board; a great way to bring people together around your favorite chili recipe. Top with your favorite toppings and corn bread!
What I love about this Epic Chili Dinner Board is that it’s great for fall time hosting! Perfect for a potluck or party! Chili is hearty and filling, and great for company! Grab the BIG BOARD info below!
Potluck Epic Chili Dinner Board
Maybe you tried this Slow Cooker Pulled Pork Chili recipe last week, or my Easy Homemade Chili made with ground turkey (my go-to recipe).
Or, I bet you have your own favorite chili recipe for game days or potlucks!
Use your favorite chili recipe, one that is great for dipping, or one that’s bursting with flavor (maybe with a kick). Don’t forget the cornbread on the side!
Is it better to make chili the night before?
We think chili is better made ahead. It’s also better the longer it cooks! Let the chili simmer on the stove or in the slow cooker for hours, that way the flavors will meld together.
LeCreuset 5-quart stainless steel braiser
Guys, I’m using my favorite 5-quart Stainless Steel Braiser that is lightweight and fits beautifully on these big boards. It’s shallow enough to not overpower the board. It comes with a lid, so you can serve the food hot (place a pothoolder down first). You can buy this LeCreuset 5-quart Stainless Steel Braiser [affiliate link] and I think you’ll love it!
Always place a trivet or hot pad on your board first, before you place anything down hot!
Chili for a fall party
“Autumn carries more gold in its pockets than all the other seasons”
Oh, how I love this saying! And it’s true, as my eyes are already spotting the golden colors here and there, with a touch of orange on the trees. Fall is my favorite time of year! Fall is my favorite time to eat chili!
Epic Chili Dinner Board
Friends, here’s what I love about big dinner boards. They create a fun vibe, great conversation, and they are casual and tasty!
My encouragement today: Invite someone new, share your life, open up, and give of yourself.
I can’t think of a more cozy and comforting way to make chili complete, than a big pot in the middle of a board. Add the corn bread and chips and any other toppings you’d put on chili.
Add your favorite toppings
The best toppings for chili are:
- Cheese
- Cilantro
- Red onion
- Sour cream
- Green onion
- Salsa
You can even get a head start by adding this to your weekend meal prep, having the chili cooked and ready to go for a party.
Here are a few chili recipes that we love:

- Use a board with a lip [grab all the board info and how to season the board, HERE.] This is important so the food does not fall off.
- Make the chili ahead. The longer it simmers and sits overnight, the better the flavors.
- Bake the cornbread ahead. Cut into large chunks.
- Create the board with a space in the center to add the hot pot of chili (lay down a hot pad). When ready, reheat the chili in a shallow pan to add to the board when hot. You can even keep the lid on the chili until right before serving.
- Around the outside add small bowls filled with the chili condiments.
- Fill in the open areas with cornbread, butter, and your favorite chips. We buy Trader Joe’s corn chips (so good).
- Add your favorite tongs and small spoons and SERVE!
Green salads with a chili board
I’m of the belief that there’s a place for salad with any bowl of chili. Right?
Salads are so fresh and delish, and seem to round out the meal; plus they’re a great alternative if your guests don’t like chili. They can have salad and cornbread instead!
Serve this chili board with a side salad–the perfect Autumn dinner!

Hi. Love making food boards!! The board in the links is not the board in your photos – unless I am missing it. Where can I find that board? – I LOVE the handles and higher sides of the one in these photos.
Also, thank you for sharing your recipes!
That’s right, that board has not been available for a couple of years (also it was not food safe, and you had to treat it, etc:) Which is why we came out with our own boards Here is the link to order. The board in the photo is 24 inches. We sell a 23-inch and a 26-inch (plus other sizes). All with a LIP, FOOD SAFE, MADE IN THE USA!
Omg love this idea! We love chili. I would add to my board some spaghetti noodles. We love eating them with chili. Can’t wait to do this!!

Is this the large or medium tray in the pics?
I absolutely love all of your Epic Boards! Ran out and purchased the large tray this past weekend and can’t wait to try this chili dinner board for the playoffs this Saturday. One quick question… what size pot do you use in the middle to hold your chili? I can’t wait to make some “Reluctant Entertainer” magic happen for my family and friends!
