how to make a Mr. Owl Fruit Board

How do you make an Owl Fruit Board?

Prepare all of the ingredients. For example, slice the apples and put in lemon juice, peel the oranges, cut the strawberries, and whip the cream.

Once you have these pieces in place, you are ready to create this easy fruit platter!

Use a board with a raised edge so the fruit stays on (and doesn’t fall off). You can get our BIG BOARDS, here.

fruit pieces shaped into an owl

  1. Fill two four inch low-line bowls with stiff whipped cream. Set on a Big Board near the top for the owl’s eyes.
  2. Start building around the eyes, and lay down the grapes to make the owl’s head. Reserve six of the grapes for the owl’s feet, and place two of the grapes in the center of the whipped cream for the pupils (eyes).
  3. Next, build the body of the owl by laying down the green apple slices down the center, and the orange slices on either side.
  4. Next, take the red apple slices and make the owl’s wings, and place a few on the head to make pointy “ears.”
  5. At the bottom of the owl’s body, lay down three to four large cinnamon sticks (what the owl will be standing on).
  6. Place two clumps of three grapes together to make the owl’s feet (to be standing on the cinnamon sticks).
  7. Lastly, place the strawberry piece below the eyes to create a nose. Place two pieces of curved large coconut for the eyebrows.

How do you serve a fruit board?

Like any fruit platter, you can serve with a fruit dip on the side.

Make ahead: Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Dip options: If you want a really sweet dip, you can use frosting. Or, you can make this Margarita Fruit Dip. But whipped cream is the easiest (you can even buy it in a can).

Buy the 20-inch BIG BOARD.

So set out a fun snack board next time you have kids coming over! Food is art, and making something simple (and edible) is the way to go!

Cute and simple is perfect for kids!

ENJOY!
