Special Burger Sauce Recipe
“Secret sauce” refers to that thing that you do that is unique, different, and special….
But today, think food! :) We love a good cheeseburger, don’t you? Serve Josh’s Favorite Double Cheeseburger with these Bacon-Wrapped Air Fryer Cheesy Jalapeño Poppers–the perfect summer menu! Also this Teriyaki Burgers recipe is awesome!
What is our special sauce made of?
At the end of the day, special sauce is a condiment in our household for burgers, fries, sandwiches, you name it. Traditionally it’s special, because it’s a family recipe, similar to Thousand Island dressing with mayo, ketchup, and sweet pickle relish.
Ingredients for Burger Sauce
- Mayonaise
- Ketchup
- Garlic powder
- Pickle juice
- Sriracha, hot sauce, or 2 tsp smoked paprika (oh so good!)
What’s your secret “sauce?”
When it comes to “what’s my secret sauce,” tons of experience and wisdom come to mind. Over time and making mistakes, we’ve learned pretty well what to sweat and not to sweat, so the final product (if you will)–a great time, rest, connections and good food–is apparent.
I think we’ve learned over hours of doing this the line between perfection and being prepared. Great, as opposed to perfect, which isn’t necessary, is a myth, and actually harms the heart of entertaining.
So this weekend …. there will be no perfect entertaining, but we may have a few people over for some burgers and special sauce.
The time with people is what we care about!

Lol. that’s funny. My hubby makes this (as a dialed down version) for he and the kids every time we have burgers and my homemade oven french fries. He only uses ketchup and mayo. BUT… they have it down to a science and truly get to take turns for the taste test to see if it’s just right. I wonder what they would think of yours.
Yum. My girls like to add some mustard to theirs as well.
