Homemade whipped topping

Friends, I just love homemade whipped topping! To be honest, I really despise Cool Whip. I just can’t stand the texture or the flavors. So when I get a chance to make a homemade whipped cream, I’m all over it.

The bottom line is fresh homemade whipped cream is a must with any homemade dessert.

In my humble, Thanksgiving opinion :)

Using my new Blueberry Scones Recipe  (don’t you love the orange sorbet color?), we “whipped up” this Spiced Whipped Cream in no time.

Who would not want this in their kitchen during Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays?

Tips on making homemade whipped cream

  1. Make ahead. Don’t overheat the cream, so watch it while you’re using a stand mixer. If you use a hand mixer, it’s easier to stop the beating before it gets too thick.
  2. Over-beating the cream will make butter, did you know?
  3. Put plastic wrap over the bowl and refrigerate.
  4. Serve on top of your favorite desserts.

Oh, and I also love whipped cream served with scones! Try these scone recipes, too.

I’d love to hear how long you wait after the big turkey “feast” to serve dessert?

We’re always so stuffed (literally), that we usually wait a couple of hours!
