When planning a menu, try to make things easier on yourself. Include food items that can be prepared ahead (like making or buying your potato salad), so you’re not stuck in the kitchen when everyone else is having fun!

Here is an Easy 3 Charcuterie ideas for hosting post I wrote awhile back about this board.

An Epic Hot Dog Board is good and casual!

For this board, arrange and cut the fruit ahead of time.

Lay out the hot dog buns.

Buy or make your own potato salad (try my Best Potato Salad Recipe).

Grill the dogs and place them on the buns.

It’s optional to drizzle the mustard or ketchup (or you can let everyone do it themselves).

For me, I like to have the dogs ready to go—it’s much easier. You can also alternate some with ketchup and mayo, or just ketchup, or just mustard. Mix ‘em up!

Everyone asks me, how do you keep the food hot?

Get everything ready ahead of time, add the hot dogs straight from the grill – AND SERVE!

You may say, by why go to all the work. Honestly, I don’t serve boards for everyday meals when it’s just our family. But I do like to make them for parties!

We’re hosting a big party this weekend, so I”ll be making this Epic Sandwich Charcuterie Board and a few others.

I like making boards, because you can do so much of the prep work ahead of time.

Ingredients needed

  • Buns, hot dogs, and all the toppings!
  • Don’t forget fruit salad and your favorite potato salad!
  • Then there is dips and potato chips! So good!

So, I’d love to hear from my readers whether you have plans for Father’s Day weekend and what you’re serving?

How to create the board

  1. Prepare a large platter or board, big enough for 12 hot dogs. Add parchment paper if not food safe. You can read this post on how I seasoned my board.
  2. In the center of the epic board, place a large bowl of potato salad.
  3. Next place 2 bowls of fruit (mixed berries and grape, watermelon).
  4. Around the outside, lay down the 12 buns.
  5. You can toast the buns ahead of time.
  6. Grill the hot dogs (or cook on stovetop) and place in the buns. Optional to add ketchup and mustard.
  7. Lay down 3 bowls of onions and ranch dip and guacamole.
  8. Fill in the areas with potato chips and serve!
  9. Don’t forget the napkins!

Or, how about this board for a pool party, summer kids’ party, soccer party, or just because? (wink wink)
