Love is … 4 Giveaway Items That Will Refresh Your Soul!
Love is … patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, is not proud, is not rude, is not self-seeking … (I Corinthians 13)
This beautiful passage is all-too-familiar to me, because I’ve heard it all of my life; I even memorized it as a child. It’s easy to read, but not always easy to live out – completely. I don’t know about you, but I really want to learn how to love more.
It’s easy to love when life is cruising along just fine.
It’s hard to love when life gets complicated and painful.
I have the above “list” posted on my refrigerator, as a gentle reminder as I walk by, of God’s love that is foundational for all other loves. It reminds me that true love gives itself freely as a gift, not as a bribe for something in return. It doesn’t bargain or manipulate or seek to control. It protects, trusts, and hopes.
And it captures my heart.
Today on RE, before we come together at the Relevant ’11 conference later this year, Tsh Oxenriender (Simple Mom), Ann Voskamp (Holy Experience), and I are giving away copies of our books, along with a gorgeous, springy apron from Debbie (The Hip Hostess).
Consider this giveaway a beautiful GIFT OF LOVE from the 4 of us to you.
Comment to WIN (one of these items) that I promise will refresh your soul:

What speaks most to me out of this chapter is…Love keeps no record of wrong.
Love NEVER fails!!!!
Love: Is not Self-seeking.. Wow this is huge…Taking the “I’s” out of the way so my hearts “Eye’s” can see…I find it hard sometimes to see the “Thee’s” for the “Me’s”.
Had you asked the same question a couple weeks ago, my answer would be different. I think what captures my heart changes with life’s stages and circumstances. Thankfully HIS love never changes despite what I’M thinking or perceiving. With what’s going on in my life right now, I’m thankful for His promises that love always hopes, protects and perseveres.
Love is patient. Sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and move on.
BTW, love the apron – got one for Christmas from my kids after I saw it on your site.
What part of I Corinthians 13 captures your heart?
It has always been the part of love being patient, and suffering long. Oh how I want to never grow weary of loving, even when it is hard and I pray that God will give me this kind of love for all people…even those who feel hard to love sometimes.
“Love is not easily angered…”
I guess love is the answer, even to my irritability.

Love is patient….as a homeschooling mother of 4, I need to keep that always at the forfront of my heart.
I am named for I Cor 13 – my mother was reading this passage in the hospital after I was born. She called my dad and said “Let’s name her Charity”, and they did!
So when my first daughter was born, I gave her the middle name “Love”. This passage is very much a part of our lives :)

What I love about these verses is that they point out how intentional love is. It goes against our sinful nature in every way. Yet, at the same time, it flows from our souls. Loving someone shows the face of Jesus to others.

“Love always hopes.”
Oh how we need hope in this world. I look around and see so many friends hope…less. Love provides the “more” needed to cancel out the “less”. Love becomes that glimmer of light in a world that seems so very dark. When someone loves a hopeless soul, the voices of hopelessness pause, even for just a split second for them to hear “Okay, if someone cares, then maybe this will be okay.” Love always hopes… and provides hope. This is the section that speaks most to me and is often my reason for wanting to pour love into the lives of people around me… because we all need hope.

It keeps no record of wrongs. So hard for me to live up to in this life. True forgiveness, not necessarily forgetting, but not recounting all of the wrongs. Would enjoy all of these items!!
