Love is … 4 Giveaway Items That Will Refresh Your Soul!
Love is … patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, is not proud, is not rude, is not self-seeking … (I Corinthians 13)
This beautiful passage is all-too-familiar to me, because I’ve heard it all of my life; I even memorized it as a child. It’s easy to read, but not always easy to live out – completely. I don’t know about you, but I really want to learn how to love more.
It’s easy to love when life is cruising along just fine.
It’s hard to love when life gets complicated and painful.
I have the above “list” posted on my refrigerator, as a gentle reminder as I walk by, of God’s love that is foundational for all other loves. It reminds me that true love gives itself freely as a gift, not as a bribe for something in return. It doesn’t bargain or manipulate or seek to control. It protects, trusts, and hopes.
And it captures my heart.
Today on RE, before we come together at the Relevant ’11 conference later this year, Tsh Oxenriender (Simple Mom), Ann Voskamp (Holy Experience), and I are giving away copies of our books, along with a gorgeous, springy apron from Debbie (The Hip Hostess).
Consider this giveaway a beautiful GIFT OF LOVE from the 4 of us to you.
Comment to WIN (one of these items) that I promise will refresh your soul:

Love always protects…doesn’t expose the faults or sins of others but covers over them.
Love always hopes…
Also, I love this passage in the Message:
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

Love is not rude
I am many times rude – even is speaking the truth – and it hurts people.
Love keeps no record of wrongs. This can be so liberating and sometimes for me the hardest to follow!
We are getting close to celebrating 25 years of marriage. I think love keeps no record of wrongs. There is a lot of water under the bridge in all this time and I want to keep it that way…flowing away from us and not over us with keeping an account.

Love always hopes: no matter what awful things happen, no matter how dark the night… amazing that hoping is not selfish, but the opposite!
Love keeps no record of wrongs!! Thank God that I don’t have to worry that when I ask for forgiveness, I don’t have to sit and wait while my “record of past wrongs” is sited to me! Forgiveness and grace … so need it and so need to offer it more in return!

How to pick one part? Love perseveres and never gives up would have to be the part that’s speaking to me most at this moment in my life.
Love is patient. I too love this passage.
Love never fails!! It reminds me that Jesus is love and He has a perfect plan for my life. His ways are higher than mine and His love never fails!!!

I love the part where it keeps no record of wrongs and never fails!
Love is not self-serving.
“Love keeps no record of wrongs.” What a powerful promise and an awesome responsibility! So often I want forgiveness and grace from the Father, but I withhold it from those closest to me. Love says to let go and bestow grace just as I’ve been given it. What a beautiful challenge to be more like the One who made us!
