Why I love this board

  • Fun for a game day party.
  • Makes a great side dish (board) for burgers or hot dogs.
  • You can make half of the board with tots (and onion rings and frys?) and the other half with veggie sticks.
  • Both tots and veggies can be dipped in Ranch dressing. Crowd pleasing for all!

Gather these ingredients:

  • Tater tots and onion rings
  • Fresh grapes: apple slices and pear slices are great, too
  • Carrot sticks and bell pepper slices: or your favorite veggie sticks for dipping
  • Ketchup and Ranch dressing: or your favorite sauces

What are tater tots?

Tater tots are made from grated and deep-fried potatoes. They are often served as a side dish, or a snack, and very popular served with take-out hamburgers. “Tater” is short for potato. Find them in the freezer case at your local grocery!

Tots are very similar to hash browns, with their only difference the shape – hash browns are flat, while tots are cylindrical.

How do you make a snack board with tater tots?

  1. On a large prepared board, arrange the bowls of dipping sauces in the middle of the board.
  2. Cook the tots and onion rings (or fries) in the oven or according to package directions.
  3. Arrange carrot sticks (or your favorite veggies) with fresh fruit on the board, leaving room for the hot snacks.
  4. As soon as the tots, etc. are cooked, place on the board and serve right away while the food is hot!
  5. ENJOY!

And by the way, what is your favorite dipping sauce to use with tater tots?

Dipping sauces ideas

  • Fry sauce
  • Ketchup (most popular)
  • Barbecue sauce
  • Ranch dressing
  • We love Stonewall Kitchen Smoky Barbecue Aioli (so good)
  • Guacamole
  • Salsa

Tips and substitutions:

If you live in Bend, Oregon, Newport Avenue Market has a huge selection of aioli sauce. You can also make your own.

Oh, and you can make your own homemade tater tots, too!

Make our Avocado Garlic Aioli Sauce recipe – delish!

So this weekend, get your TOTS baking in the oven (also onion rings, fries, or whatever your family loves), and don’t forget your favorite dipping sauces.

Boards are a casual way to host. You can make them super big (epic), or you can scale to size according to the mouths you are feeding.

What I love about boards is that they are not about perfection. Set that aside, and make them your own.

Make them fun and flavorful and ENJOY!
