Charcuterie Skewers
I love serving these charcuterie kabobs at family gatherings. And, because we all have different favorites, I mix and match the items on the skewers so that everyone can try something different.
These mini charcuterie skewers are colorful and cheery, and loaded with flavor! They’re easy to eat, and you can make them ahead so that all you need to do is set out a platter and watch everyone smile and compliment you!
Why I love this recipe
- You can make as many as you need – double this recipe to feed even more guests.
- You can make the skewers any size – from minis to meal size.
- Mix and match with all your favorite charcuterie ingredients and dazzle everyone!
Gather these ingredients
- Bamboo skewers – You can find these in most grocery or party stores.
- Cubed cheese – Have a mix of yellow and white cheese like cheddar, havarti, gouda, or sharp cheese.
- Sliced salami – Pepperoni also works. Fold it up accordion-style before threading it onto the skewers.
- Olives – Black and green olives are a pretty combination.
- Pickles – Small pickles or cut larger ones into chunks.
- Fresh basil leaves – Gently folded before skewered.
- Artichoke hearts – Drained. Quarter them if you buy whole ones.
- Red cherry tomatoes
- Balsamic glaze – Optional
- Herbs – Optional.
How to make Charcuterie Skewers
- Thread cheese, salami, olives, pickle, a folded basil leaf, and an artichoke heat onto 6 of the skewers.
- Thread cheese, salami, olives, pickle, a folded basil leaf, and a cherry tomato on the remaining skewers.
- Lay them on a platter and drizzle them with balsamic glaze and sprinkle them with chopped herbs.
- Enjoy!
Tips & substitutions
- Get the kids to help you build the skewers – this can be a fun family activity, and it might encourage them to try something new!
- Vary the colors to keep your Charcutierie Skewers eye-catching!
- Prepare these ahead of time and keep them in the fridge covered with plastic wrap until ready to serve. You can make the skewers up to a day in advance.
- Add your favorite charcuterie meats, cheeses, and nibbles to the skewers to customize them.
- Buy thin-cut salami or pepperoni so that it folds up more easily.
- Buy pre-cubed cheese to save yourself some prep time.
- Add these skewers to a charcuterie board to really jazz up your board.
Serving suggestions
These always get gobbled up first when I take them to potlucks and events, but if I’m serving them at home, I usually offer guests something else to nibble on, too. These skewers pair nicely with other bites like this tasty twist on hummus, Whipped Ricotta Crostini, and Baked Brie with Peach Jam.
Or, just serve them along with your favorite cocktails and drinks. Some of my favorites are this light and lively Hugo Cocktail, a Pear Martini, and Summer Sangria.
Storage
Store any leftover Charcuterie Skewers in the fridge in an airtight container. Pull everything off the sticks before packing them away to save space.
