ingredients to make Blueberry Cheesecake Dip Recipe

Ingredients needed to make Blueberry Cheesecake Dip

  • Cream cheese: Allow the cream cheese to soften at room temperature for easy mixing. I don’t recommend reduced-fat or fat free cream cheese for this recipe – they just won’t deliver the same quality as full-fat cream cheese.
  • Sweetened condensed milk: Thickens and sweetens the dip.
  • Powdered sugar: I love using powdered sugar in my dessert dips. It makes the dip nice and fluffy, adds sweetness, and mixes easily.
  • Blueberries: I prefer to use fresh blueberries, but you could use frozen instead. Make sure that frozen blueberries are thawed and drained properly to avoid excess moisture in the dip. Omit the blueberries to make a strawberry cheesecake dip instead, if you like.
  • Strawberries: Cut into small pieces so that you can easily scoop them up with each bite. You could swap the strawberries for raspberries for a raspberry cheesecake dip twist.
  • Lemon juice: Freshly squeezed lemon juice balances the richness of the cream cheese and cuts through the sweetness of this dip.
  • Vanilla: This adds a lovely depth of flavor to the dip.
  • Garnish: Top this blueberry cheesecake dip with a tiny piece of mint. It’ll add a pop of color and freshness to the dessert.
  • Small dippers: Use Graham crackers, fruit slices (cantaloupe, pineapple, or whole strawberries), vanilla wafers, or shortbread cookies to dip into this cheesecake dip.
  • Double the recipe: Make a double batch of this blueberry cheesecake dip when serving a larger crowd – perfect for your patriotic parties and family gatherings over the summer!
  • Uniform size matters: Chop the strawberries and break down the blueberries so that they resemble the same or similar size. It’ll make the cheesecake dip look more appealing and ensure every scoop includes a perfect mix of flavors and textures.

Sandy’s tips and substitutions:

  • Storage: Remove any fresh fruit topping from the leftover dip to store in a separate airtight container. Store any leftover dip in the serving bowl, covered with plastic wrap, in the fridge for 4 days. Let the dip sit at room temperature for 15 minutes to soften slightly before serving.
  • Freeze: You can freeze this dip for up to 3 months. Thaw it overnight in the fridge and give it a good stir before serving.
  • Topping: For extra flavor, top this dip with a mixed berry compote before adding the remaining blueberries and strawberries.
  • Less sweetness: Use less condensed milk if you don’t want the dip too sweet.
  • Soften cream cheese: Let the cream cheese soften at room temperature to prevent lumps and for easier mixing. If you’re in a rush, you can remove the cream cheese from the foil lining and microwave it for very short intervals.
  • Chill the dip: This dip must be chilled for 30 minutes before serving to help it thicken. Always place the dip back into the fridge when not using it for an extended time due to the creamy ingredients.
  • Other holidays and themes: Use this cheesecake dip as a base to make an array of cheesecake dip recipes, suited to other holidays, party themes, or taste preferences. Make pumpkin cheesecake dip with pumpkin puree, pumpkin spice, and topped with chopped pecans and a drizzle of salted caramel, as an example!
