Marmalade Glaze for Ham
A simple Marmalade Glaze for Ham will give your ham a “kick.” This glaze recipe is made from scratch, with orange juice, orange marmalade, Dijon mustard, dried fruit, and other delicious spices. It’s unique and wonderful drizzled over a spiral ham and reheated to perfection.

If you love honey glazed ham, then you’ll enjoy our special glaze with a spiral ham for Easter dinner! For winter, it’s also tasty for Christmas! We’ve changed it up from year to year for the holidays, serving lamb or duck, and but a honey glazed ham is always our favorite! It’s not too spicy, but sweet, with a “kick” that makes the flavors of the ham come alive!
Glazing a ham adds a sweet and tangy flavor with that special final touch, if you want to wow your guests. It’s especially wonderful with a smoked ham, but overall, it’s just a great addition to the salty flavor of ham! We used an 8 pound spiral ham for our recipe, but this glaze pairs well with type of ham.

Thirty minutes before ham is done, spoon half of sauce over the ham and continue to bake. With remaining sauce, follow directions and serve on the side!
Can you use marmalade to glaze a ham?
Yes, marmalade really adds to the glaze to make it sweet, along with mustard spices! We used orange marmalade, but any flavor or sweet jam works.

Gather these ingredients
- Spiral ham: we bought an 8 pound ham
- Jar of marmalade (we used orange)
- Hot or sweet mustard
- Spices: dried ginger, allspice, cardamom
- Mixed dried fruit, such as cranberries, apricots, etc:, finely chopped
- Orange juice

How do you make a marmalade glaze for ham?
- Bake ham according to package directions.
- Make the glaze: Mix together marmalade, mustard, ginger, allspice, cardamom, and dried fruit in a small bowl.
- Thirty minutes before ham is done, remove from the oven and spoon half of sauce over the ham and return to oven. Bake until the ham is done.
- With the remaining mixture, put in a small pan add the orange juice. Bring to a boil, then turn down to low and simmer for about 5 minutes. Serve the sauce on the side along with the ham.

Tips and substitutions:
Where do you buy a ham? We have purchased spiral hams from Costco (probably my favorite), Harry & David, and Honey Baked Ham.
It is recommended to to remove the ham from the fridge about one hour before baking.
How long do you cook a ham?
Spiral cut, whole or half | 7-9 lbs | 10-18 min per pound |
How do you store leftover ham? We store it in the fridge in covered container for up to 5 days.
Should I cover my spiral ham with foil? Place the ham cut-side down in a baking pan. Cover the ham with foil or use a baking bag to heat up the ham until it’s time to glaze.
Other glaze ingredients: Brown sugar, honey, maple syrup.
